The premiere of the play “DOGHOUSE” in Paris

On Saturday, January 11, Arterarij’s play “Dog House” premiered at the Lavoir Moderne Parisien theater in Paris. After successful premieres in Zagreb and Belgrade, the Parisian audience also had the opportunity to see “DOGHOUSE,” directed by Romano Nikolić. This performance was part of a three-day Festival of Otherness, which brought together artists and audiences through three theatrical performances/performances – Heartefakt from Serbia, El Vaivén from France, and Arterarij from Croatia. The play “DOGHOUSE” addresses the difficult and, in our society, insufficiently open topic of wartime rape and its long-lasting consequences on individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. You can watch the performance in Zagreb in February at the Arterarij space located at Antuna Heinza 2a. *The project “Eclectic of Otherness” is funded by the European Union. Romano Nikolić in Paris as part of the Creative Europe project ‘Eclectic of Otherness’

Artistic director and director Romano Nikolić stayed in Paris from July 12 to 15 at the invitation of the renowned artistic organization El Vaïvén as part of the Creative Europe’s project “Eclectic of Otherness”. The purpose of his residency in Paris was to visit the rehearsals of El Vaïvén and to follow the process of creating their play “The Rabbit House,” as well as to exchange experiences related to the working process and collaboration in socially engaged theater that addresses the issues of contemporary migration through the play in development. Nikolić also represented the artistic organization Arterarij, which is a partner (and representative of Croatia) in the Creative Europe project, alongside the Serbian artistic organization Heartefact. The project “Eclectic of Otherness” emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion in the arts, and Nikolić’s involvement further contributes to strengthening international cooperation and creative exchange. As part of this project, colleagues from France and Serbia will be in Zagreb in September, where they will attend rehearsals of the artistic organization Arterarij, which is also in the process of creating a play as part of this project titled “Dog House.”
The beginning of rehearsals for the new play as part of the ‘Eclectic of Otherness’ project

We have started rehearsals for a new theatre production as part of the ‘Eclectic of Otherness’ project, which is set to premiere at the end of September in Zagreb. Building upon the established aesthetics and ethics of Arterarij, director and actor Romano Nikolić, in collaboration with dramaturge Dorotea Šušak, will address the issue of wartime sexual violence in the recent conflict in this region through the narrative of two parallel families of different ethnic, religious, and life backgrounds. The play features Anita Matić Delić, Dušan Gojić, Jelena Graovac Lučev, Nikola Nedić, and Davor Tarbuk. During the first rehearsal, they engaged in discussions with Marijana Senjak, a psychologist and counselor at the Centre for Victims of Sexual Violence “Women’s Room.” *The project “Eclectic of Otherness” is funded by the European Union.
