ARTERARIJ

Festivity of otherness is a theater festival that will take place in Zagreb from November 7 to 9 at the Arterarij venue located at Antuna Heinza 2a.

The Arterarij organization, after two years of artistic research as part of the Creative Europe project, proudly announces the Festivity of Otherness / Eclectic of Otherness, a unique theatrical experience that will confront the audience with poignant stories and reflections on the human experience, as well as personal narratives that shape our world. From November 7 to 9, the Zagreb audience will have the opportunity to see performances by renowned artists from Croatia, France, and Serbia who come to open topics that rarely receive enough attention through art. The Festivity of Otherness is much more than a theater festival – it is a call to reflection, to confront the invisible and unspoken. In partnership with the Heartefact Foundation from Serbia and the El Vaïvén organization from France, Arterarij brings exceptional artistic projects that, through bold theater, create space for mutual understanding, empathy, and reflection.
PROGRAM of the festival:

November 7, 19:30 – Dog House
A story that explores the impact of wartime rape on individuals and society as a whole. The performance follows the stories of two families, investigating the deep, painful traumas of war that are passed down from generation to generation. Director Romano Nikolić, in collaboration with authors Dorotea Šušak and Mario Mažić, presents an emotionally intense performance that leaves the audience moved.

November 8, 19:30 – Rabbit House
Directed by Juan Miranda, this performance depicts memories of growing up in Argentina during the military dictatorship, inspired by the novel of the same name by Laura Alcoba. Through the eyes of a young girl, the audience will experience the emotional nuances of loss, migration, and the search for identity, while questioning how past traumas shape the present and future.

November 9, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00 – They have already gone
An immersive performance by Serbian director Andrej Nosov that explores loss and the memory of those who were forcibly disappeared during the wars in the former Yugoslavia through an interactive experience. Inspired by the genocide in Srebrenica, Nosov confronts the audience with the void left by those who are no longer here. This artistic event, rich in documentary materials and intimate soundscapes, creates space for reflection on collective memory and responsibility towards the past.
