These days, Serbian director Patrik Lazić is in Zagreb for an artistic residency at the partner organization Arterarij, as part of the Eclectic of Otherness project, co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.
Patrik Lazić has been collaborating with the creative team of the play “Doghouse” for almost a year, first in the research and concept development phase, and then by actively participating in rehearsals for the play, both online and offline. During his residency in Zagreb, he contributed to the completion of the final version of the play, which will have its showcase performance at the end of September. Additionally, as the play is set to be performed in Belgrade in December, Patrik Lazić is assisting in adapting the play and its perception within the context of contemporary Serbia.
EoO is a partnership initiative of three cultural organizations from Serbia, Croatia, and France, dedicated to exploring identity tensions between “us” and “them,” insiders and outsiders, those we believe belong, and those who do not share that privilege. EoO uncovers and honors the struggles faced by the unknown, foreigners, outsiders, immigrants, newcomers, and refugees on their difficult journeys to safety and freedom, and showcases the challenges they encounter in navigating their new lives and identities. The play “Doghouse” is based on the stories of victims of wartime sexual violence during the last war in former Yugoslavia.
The project coordinator is the Hartefakt Fund, and the project runs from February 2023 to January 2025. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
