The beginning of rehearsals for the new play as part of the ‘Eclectic of Otherness’ project

We have started rehearsals for a new theatre production as part of the ‘Eclectic of Otherness’ project, which is set to premiere at the end of September in Zagreb. Building upon the established aesthetics and ethics of Arterarij, director and actor Romano Nikolić, in collaboration with dramaturge Dorotea Šušak, will address the issue of wartime sexual violence in the recent conflict in this region through the narrative of two parallel families of different ethnic, religious, and life backgrounds. The play features Anita Matić Delić, Dušan Gojić, Jelena Graovac Lučev, Nikola Nedić, and Davor Tarbuk. During the first rehearsal, they engaged in discussions with Marijana Senjak, a psychologist and counselor at the Centre for Victims of Sexual Violence “Women’s Room.” *The project “Eclectic of Otherness” is funded by the European Union. Public audition call within the project ‘Eclectic of Otherness’

Public call for actors/actresses for an audition as part of the project ‘Eclectic of Otherness’, organized by Arterarij (Deadline for applications: 05.04.2024.) The organization Arterarij invites actors (including acting students) to audition for the project “The Eclectic of Otherness” as part of the Creative Europe program, a collaborative initiative of three artistic organizations from Serbia, France, and Croatia. The project is dedicated to exploring the controversial nature of identity and understanding and accepting otherness and difference, as well as the social and intimate dealing with the traumatic experiences of survivors, while the theatrical performance will specifically address the issue of wartime sexual violence (with a focus on the regional experience of recent wars in this area). The audition will be held in order to promote transparent work and action in culture, creating opportunities for young performers, and selecting performers for the needs of the play, specifically director Romano Nikolić’s authorial project and dramaturg Dorotea Šušak. The work on the play will last throughout June and September 2024. The premiere is planned for the end of September 2024 in Zagreb. Roles for which the audition is announced: role of daughter (up to 35 years) role of son (up to 35 years) role of mother (from 50-65 years) role of father (from 50-65 years) Audition date: 15.04.2024. How to apply: Submit a photo, CV, and a brief explanation of your motivation for participating in the project to the email address: arterarij@gmail.com Deadline for applications: 05 April 2024. Based on the received applications, the authorial-production team of the play will conduct the first round of selection and choose those who will be invited to the audition. Selected candidates will receive timely feedback on whether they are invited to the audition, as well as information on the time and place of the audition and preparatory materials. Applications with incomplete documentation or those submitted after the deadline will be excluded from further selection. In case of inadequate response, the organizers reserve the right to independently invite other performers to the audition or make the final selection of other performers for the project, as well as the possibility of changing the time and/or location of the audition. *The project “Eclectic of otherness” is financed by the European Union.
